C (carbon) is an indispensable strengthening element in steel, but the increase in C content reduces the low-temperature impact toughness of steel and deteriorates the welding performance of steel. Therefore, it is necessary to control the C content in the shipbuilding steel plate.

AI (aluminum) has the effect of refining grains in steel, and can combine with N (nitrogen) to form AIN (aluminum nitride) with large dispersion. Not only does it not produce precipitation hardening, but because it reduces the free N existing in the interstitial phase, it can lower the ductile-brittle transition temperature and reduce the aging sensitivity of steel. V (vanadium) is a strengthening element in steel. Because V is a refractory metal compound, adding an appropriate amount during the powder metallurgy production of cemented carbide can increase the toughness of the material, and the precipitation strengthening of V can increase the strength of shipbuilding steel plate. It can also refine the grains and improve the impact toughness of shipbuilding steel plate.
