With the rapid development of the LNG industry, the research and development of 9Ni low-temperature steel continues to rise. The storage temperature of LNG is -163℃. The 9Ni steel used for the inner wall of the LNG storage tank is required to have high strength, good low-temperature toughness and small fluctuations.
Another important low-temperature steel is Invar alloy for LNG ships. Invar alloy thin strip is an essential material for thin-film LNG ships and is used in cargo hold containment systems. Invar alloy is Ni=36%, the coefficient of thermal expansion is very low, can maintain a fixed size in a wide temperature range, suitable for temperature changes from room temperature to -163℃. As the shipyards have accepted orders for multiple LNG ships, there is an urgent need for the localization of Invar alloys.
