According to the data of March 7 of the General Administration of Customs, from January to February 2021, China exported 10.14 million tons of steel products, with a year-on-year increase of 29.9%; from January to February, China imported 2.395 million tons of steel products, with a year-on-year increase of 17.4%; from January to February, China exported 7.745 million tons of steel products, with a year-on-year increase of 34.2%.
From the perspective of steel export volume from January to February, China's steel export has begun to gradually recover to 2018 and 2019. In terms of imports, China's demand in 2020 will drop significantly due to the epidemic situation. Although there is a year-on-year growth, it is also at a normal level compared with 2019 and 2018. At present, steel products orders from October to December in 2020 can be roughly reflected from January to February. After December of 2020, there was a wave of abnormal fire in China steel export orders. Some steel mills' export scheduling has reached the ship period after 3-4 months (normal 1-1.5 months). Therefore, the export volume in January to February will not be the peak of the whole year.
