According to the statistics of Korea Iron and Steel Association, due to the increase of uncertainty in some major steel export markets, South Korea's steel export volume in April decreased by 2.6% compared with March to 2499637 tons. Total exports of steel and scrap fell 1.4% from January to April to 9991149 tons.
On the contrary, South Korea's exports to China increased 5 per cent on a year-on-year basis by region, with exports to ASEAN (up 3.3 per cent), India (up 16.9 per cent), the Middle East (up 141.5 per cent), North America (up 9.9 per cent) and Oceania (up 33.5 per cent). On the other hand, the exports to Japan, Taiwan, Europe, Turkey, CIS, South America and Africa decreased by 14.4%, 20.6%, 18.8%, 9.4%, 35.9%, 18.0% and 38.7% respectively in April.
